Exploitation on an Ole Softy Like Me!

I am a softy, especially when adults use children to solicit donations. The first thing I did today on this beautiful Saturday morning is pick up some food at my local Food Lion. As I was walking into the store there were some boys from a local little league baseball team at the front. And every one of them was carrying little cans and soliciting denotations for their local team. I had to tell them that, “I am sorry but I don’t have any cash on me,” which is true.

I went in and purchase enough food to have to eat for most of the weekend. As I was getting ready to pay for the food the panel on the debit keypad asked would I like to have some “cash back?” Well being the softy that I am, I requested some cash back to give to each of the boys at the front door. I gave them each at least $1 for each of their cans. Man, this is exploitation! LOL

A word to those who use children in this way, and you know who you are, this exploitation will almost always work on a softy like me. Anytime there are children selling candy, trinkets, or just straight solicitation for donation I will cave in. Ugh! At least it is for a good cause.
